Best Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago

  1. Food here is taking a very long time to arrive. It is as if they are ignoring us. I understand that they have a busy crowd, almost full, but I saw some people who ordered the same food after us, get food first. Apparently it takes 45 minutes for a whole deep dish pizza to bake. In the end, the food finally arrived, and was very good. Deep dish pizza is basically just an inverted pizza inside a pie shell. Nothing too special. The fettuccine Alfredo was bland, so I added chili flakes and pepper. It can easily overpower you, so don’t order Alfredo. But, not bad. Food mostly tasted good other than that.

For my first visit to Chicago I just had to have one of the staples of Chicago style pizza.

We were seated relatively quickly and ordered our pizza immediately knowing it would be a little wait before it was done.

We ordered beers and the garlic bread, and I knew after the garlic bread that this pizza would be worth the wait.

Once we received the pizza we dug in to it, and I was not disappointed. It was flavorful and filling, and the crust was even one of the best parts!

It was so good I may need to order some frozen and have it shipped to me in Nashville!

We arrived during the lunch rush and were seated quickly. The waiter attended to us carefully despite there being many people in his section. He thoughtfully gave us approximate times for the kitchen to prepare different dishes so we knew what to expect. He was very helpful, even dishing out the pizza when my hands and my husband’s were full. The service was excellent and we would absolutely go back.

We’ve been coming to Giordanos for a couple years now whenever we visit Chicago and have tried different locations every time. They never disappoint! It’s always an amazing experience! Great pies, great atmosphere! The places are always packed but the stuff does a great job of handling it, moving people through quickly enough without making you feel rushed at all, keeping the place clean and maintaining a friendly, humorously witty style. I just can’t say enough – go have a pie already!! 🙂

Disappointing. Hostesses were CLUELESS (understatement). Pizza order station uninformative. Drinks from bar were WEAK. Wait staff scarce, but our waiter DID box our food (good for one star). Sad because this was my favorite pizza place in Chicago and I’ve never missed eating here on every single trip. I’ll most likely give another place a shot at earning my patronage on future trips. I did give 2 stars because in the midst of a complete failure at providing us with an enjoyable dining experience, the pizza was still exceptional as always. This location proved last night that it is mismanaged. They were not prepared for the weekend dinner crowd. The service was atrocious and the staff was clueless. I’d never been here for dinner on a weekend, but have been many times for lunch over the past 12 years.
